DIGITAL TWIN FOR OPERATIONS AND SECURITY MANAGEMENT
Client: IDOM of Algeciras
The Port of Algeciras, located in the Strait of Gibraltar, is the largest port in Spain and the 4th in Europe in terms of total cargo. APBA (Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras), the entity that manages the port infrastructure, sought to improve the management of security and port operations.
Virtualware cooperated with IDOM Engineering to develop a bespoke solution to improve efficiency in the management of port operations and security.
This solution consisted in the design and creation of a new control centre that incorporated a 3D digital twin of the complete infrastructure, integrated with all the control systems such as access control, ship management, monitoring of security cameras, and management of incidents (unauthorized intrusions, planning of evacuation routes or alternative routes due to traffic jams, etc.).
Virtualware designed the solution, integrated different systems, and implemented it, including development, installation and putting the control centre into operation.
The Project achieved a 35% reduction in the time to react before incidents.
