Virtualware brings the SDGs closer to young people through VR

Bilbao, April 28th BBK Kuna hosted the presentation of a new edition of the Googaz initiative, “a movement created by non-conformist millennials”, whose aim is to motivate the youth of the Basque Country to take action and be the owners of their lives. whose aim is to motivate youth people of the Basque Country to take action and be the owners of their lives.

This movement started in 2017 and has held four editions so far, each of which has tackled a different social challenge. In this new edition, Googaz is back with a new challenge: to bring the SDGs closer to Basque youth, with virtual reality as an ally.

Virtualware, a VR expert company for a decade and a half, developing immersive solutions for both industry and education, is part of this initiative promoted by BBK Kuna, the provincial council of Bizkaia.

Virtual reality will be a key tool in this edition to encourage young people from the Basque Country, aged 16 to 30, from different towns in Bizkaia to participate in these challenges, which will address the following themes: fear, the situation of refugees, gender violence, cities of the future, housing.

In the first phase, called PLAY, different municipalities of Bizkaia will be visited with Googaz Virtual Reality, where schools will have the opportunity to participate with their students.

The second phase in the HACKATON format will take place on 17 June at BBK Kuna. They will have to work on a challenge related to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) by creating a script for a team game. The winning team will win a pair of virtual reality goggles for each member.

In the final phase, CREATE will materialize and create the game that will be transferred to the cities of Bizkaia next year, closing the cycle.

It is important for Virtualware to collaborate in this initiative, aligned with the company’s strategy to promote and expand our capacity for impact in the field of the SDGs. Its main product, VIROO, facilitates in this last phase the creation of any virtual reality content in a simple and scalable way.
